Remember how awesome an octopus is, especially when they battle it out with a shark (here)? Well, to sea lions, they are nothing but mere food. So who's more badass now?
This clip was taken from a crittercam attached to a sea lion used by the National Geographic Channel researcher's in documenting sea lions whereby the group's mission is to save these endangered but awesome creatures. Just see how that sea lion gobbles the helpless octopus. [National Geographic]
Freak of the Week : Study and get an iPad
Though the iPad may seem like a big bust, still having one can make you look badass. Now, have you ever imagined yourself studying for the sake of your future and at the same time being rewarded for it now? This happens to scholars most of the time. But students from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, specifically full-time students, will be rewarded by well, being a student there by receiving an iPad starting this fall.
With iPad's ability to host eBooks, students from the university will be instructed to purchase their lecture books from the iBook Store. Pretty cool. With that, the students won't be obligated to take down notes on bulky notebooks and bring with them books that I assume most of the time, won't be read at all. I wish all schools will be like that. Little girl does it all
Can you solve a Rubik's cube? Probably yes. Can you balance a set of books? Maybe yes. Do you know pi up to its nth digit? Well, probably not. Are you girl? Yes, there is a high chance. But can you do this? Of course, NOT. This is just awesome right here. [Guyism]
Nanobots in, Cancer out?
Cancer may become a thing of the past as nanobots have already been proven effective, so far at least. The 70-nanometer attack bots—made with two polymers and a protein that attaches to the cancerous cell's surface—carry a piece of RNA called small-interfering RNA (siRNA), which deactivates the production of a protein, starving the malign cell to death. Once it has delivered its lethal blow, the nanoparticle breaks down into tiny pieces that get eliminated by the body in the urine.
And guess what, nanobots can be used as much as you want to kill those damned cancer cells, and so far, no side effects have been seen or encountered. That is just the Lord's work right there. Here is the original article.

See those black dots? They are the nanobots, and they are
pulverizing the hell out of that cancer cell
LHC at work on March 30
After creating so much buzz way back in the past, but failing to deliver its goods earlier around last November due to some glitches, the Large Hadron Collider, which many have dubbed as the destroyer of the universe, will finally be revealing what it really is made for.
The LHC allegedly is supposed to find some "god-particle" from which everything started. But on the 30th, its mission is to recreate conditions that is fairly close to the Big Bang. Will this cause a huge black hole, and suck the universe, as what the haters say? All we can do is wait. But I hope it won't. [via PhysOrg]

Freak of the Week : LegoLand California
I have featured previously a collection of insane, life-sized figures made completely out of Lego. Now, imagine those life-sized figures in an environment also made completely out of Lego. Well, not all of them, but most of them. Now what do you get? A LegoLand. And this LegoLand is the only one found outside of Europe, the others being in Denmark, Windsor (England), and Germany. Freak of the Week : My Mom's on Facebook
Well, not really. But I'll make sure that what this song portrays won't happen to me.
Freak of the Week : King of Cards
It took this architect 44 days to build and break his own Guiness World Record of the biggest house made of completely nothing but plain playing cards. Bryan Berg, who is just insanely talented, used 218,792 cards to produce a replica of the Venetian Macau. Sweet. [via Daily Mail UK]
Berg poses with his work of art which is displayed right where his model is patterned. Adorable.
The model. I hope he builds one based on our house.
To the Battlefield
I've been struggling with the busy season this past few weeks, disabling me to do some extensive research, thus unable to make consistent blog posts.
I still might be unable to blog regularly in these remaining days of the month, because I have lots of real business to deal with, including battling it out to make it back to my old academic condition.
So, blog posts will be as scarce as diamonds, but Freak of the Week entries won't be missed. See you when I see you.

Freak of the Week : Hussein's Palaces
With Saddam Hussein being dead for a while now, and him being a freak of nature when it comes to accumulating assets, there's no doubt that there will be some of his belongings that will be left behind. And the American soldiers have been very resourceful, using Hussein's palaces as temporary shelters.
After Hussein was forced out of his ruling supremacy, the US Army moved their headquarters in Al-Faw Palace in Camp Victory, which is pictured above. Some of the photos after the cut, and the original article at the end of this sentence. [via WebUrbanist]
Nail of Christ's Crucifixion?
A nail dating back from the time Christ's crucifixion was found in a remote fort that was once believed to be a stronghold of the Knights Templar. A nail was found and was believed to be used by the Roman empire in their thousands of crucifixion, dating back in the days.

Archaeologists say that due to the nail's astounding condition of safekeeping, it might be an important relic after all. Now that would be awesome. [via Telegraph]
Freak of the Week : Best Fossil Ever
I've seen plenty of fossils myself, well at least on TV screens and on rare times, in person. The T-Rex's fossil used to be my favorite, especially when it was given life in the movie Night at the Museum. But now, this is my new favorite. [via National Geographic News]
Armadillo fossil? Nope. This is an ancient crocodile fossil
found is Sao Paolo, Brazil. Awesome.
Auto Tune the News
If our congress sessions works just like the way this video works, with all the singing and Auto Tuning, I'll likely file my certificate of candidacy when the time comes. By the way, the lyrics of the song are really what they are talking about when they were in session. Nice, neat job right here. [via mental_floss]
Boyet in Wonderland
I haven't been posting a lot of stuff lately mainly due to a very stuffed schedule that hinders me to do extensive researches. Despite of that, I have been very obsessed of the thought of buying an action figure that can be posed, then snap a few pictures of it.
So I went to the nearest Toys-R-Us, looked on the shelves, and found my new companion, who I named Boyet. He's a G.I. Joe character, but I don't know him because I haven't watched that not-so-recent film. So my new time-waster is here. Whenever I have time, I will be posting a new pose of Boyet. See you next time.
The Cost of Technology
We oftentimes hear that keeping a rare piece of item, even if it's cheap, will one day appreciate in value. See how these legendary fathers of modern technology turned out. [via I-Am-Bored]

The Future of Jocks and Nerds
There will always be at least one bully and one geek in a class. They say that they would have a different story, but really in the end, it's like they are meant to be. The comic below agrees. [via Cracked]
Night Launch of Space Shutte Endeavour
6 days ago, the Space Shuttle Endeavour was launched and was bound to go to the International Space Station. The Space Shuttle's mission was to bring the Tranquility module which will provide extra room for space station astronauts.

Flipbook Awesomeness
I've pretty much created my own flipbook animation, but they were usually just a few pages long, and oftentimes consisted of stickmen in peril, usually being crushed to their death. But this one is really jaw dropping and time consuming indeed. Great work.
Penelope Cruz in Pirates of the Caribbean 4
Penelope Cruz is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp and sail the seven seas in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," the fourth installment of the movie series being directed by Rob Marshall.
Depp is reprising his popular role of Captain Jack Sparrow, and while plot details are buried deeper than Blackbeard's treasure, it is known the tale revolves around the Fountain of Youth. [via The Hollywood Reporter]
Whoa. So it looks like Keira Knightley won't be back and have more escapades with the new Davy Jones, Orlando Bloom. Dang I forgot his movie name. Being a big fan of the franchise, I think the next installment might be an overkill. Taking into account what transpired at the third installment, which I think made the story great because it was open ended, I'm starting to think that the 4th installment is just another way to revive the thought-to-be finished franchise and rake in more cash. I can't wait for it though.

Lightning Coolness
Lightnings are one freak of nature. I still get googly - eyed whenever I see a bolt of it just slice the sky. Then I came across this video of it, but in a slower motion. Totally cool.
We did it our way
Remember how we told someone not to sing "My Way" when in a karaoke bar because it might get you killed? Well, that enigma that have puzzled us for a long time has gained a little attention from..wait for it..The New York Times. Yes it did. There, the author tried to deduce on why "My Way" has got many people killed. One logical explanation that he pointed out is that "My Way" is a very popular song here in the Philippines, making it the one of the most picked song. Couple that with booze and the very competitive nature of us Filipinos, and we got one hell of a violence. Here is a snippet of it:
Check out the article here.
The authorities do not know exactly how many people have been killed warbling “My Way” in karaoke bars over the years in the Philippines, or how many fatal fights it has fueled. But the news media have recorded at least half a dozen victims in the past decade and includes them in a subcategory of crime dubbed the “My Way Killings.”
Check out the article here.

Epic Group Pic Fail

Freak of the Week: WTF Exam Answers
So yesterday, my blog was officially one month old. I'm not into the whole "month-sary" thing, and because I'm still moping about how my grades will turn out this sem, I wasn't able to post anything yesterday. But today, to make me feel a little light about my exams, I found the following photos. I wish I could do them in a major exam. See more after the jump or visit Funny Exam's website.
Get your tongue twisted
A certain Dutchman named Dr Gerard Nolst Trenité created this poem which will prove that English is a tough language. This is the corrected and updated version of The Chaos. Read it out loud, and see how good or bad you really are when it comes to the English language. Forgive me if the spacing or the overall look of the poem is not pleasing, I just copy pasted it from Spelling Society, so be sure to visit the original article here. Read out the next stanzas after the cut. [via Mental_Floss]
Dearest creature in creation
Studying English pronunciation,
I will keep you, Susy, busy,

Dearest creature in creation
Studying English pronunciation,
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse and worse.
I will keep you, Susy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy;
Tear in eye, your dress you'll tear;
Queer, fair seer, hear my prayer.
Thoughts on the iPad
Apple just got their one chance of being one god company, but they blew it by releasing the iPad. Not that the iPad is a terrible product, but jeez, it just failed to meet consumer expectations. Having read a lot of speculations around the internet and seeing tons of photos that resemble what the iPad might look like, I too lusted for it. But then on release day, it sucked ass.

Even Hitler hates Apple iPad.
A Sight to Behold?
Mars will be seen by the naked eye this January 29, due to Mars closing in to Earth, which will be the closest encounter between 2008 and 2014. Mars, which could be seen without the aid of a telescope, will rise with the moon, and will be clearly seen on Friday when the full moon and Mars itself converge. Mars will resemble a bright orange star and will not twinkle, unlike the stars we see at night. Click here for the original article.

Good Times with Mo Podcasts (NSFW)
If you are a die-hard fan or just a plain old listener to Mo Twister's morning show, then you have to listen to these sets of podcasts that they have recorded just for their loyal listeners. They are a bit old, but still, they are a joy to listen to. Just to remind, these are similar to what they do and talk about on their radio show, except that a lot of profanity and explicit language is freely used because well, no KBP will be banning them because of these. So remember to put on your earphones/headphones/headsets and just laugh your ass off.

Freak of the Week: Awesome Lego Figures
I used to have a Lego play set way back when I was a little kid, and the best thing I kid do with it is build an F1 Race Car, and some funny looking buildings and stuff. But here, you'll get embarrassed by how unbelievable these Lego figures are, and they are freaking life-sized. [Maxim]

Quote of the Week
After this hectic week of midterms, I've finally realized one thing - never do anything that you will someday regret. And it somewhat pains me that I did not put all, or at least most of my effort reviewing for quizzes, with me being too confident of myself. And now, it has taken its toll on me. Now just to remind me of this:
Too Hot? Maybe.
If you think that only normal citizens get issues regarding their sweaty underams, wait till you see who this celebrity is. This gal apparently, is a rising star, and maybe she's rising up too fast that she overheats and manages to get ahead of everyone, including her deodorant. Check out who she is after the cut. [E! Redemption
A convicted forger was found dead by prison guards in the late 1800s, specifically in Sing Sing prison. In his body they found seven regular pins with this crazy art, which he presumably did throughout his sentence. He went blind because of his art. Read the original write up here.
The Lord's Prayer in a gold pin. Take note, it's a pin head.
Accounting is Evil
I can't seem to get a grasp of what I am reading. I came into my senses that I've just wasted hours, or maybe 2 months of precious time trying to decipher what Financial Accounting 2 really is. This is the first time that I will get into trouble because of my grades, especially in Accounting. I used to massacre accounting, treating it like a helpless mosquito just trying to survive by sucking blood. But this time, Accounting has sucked so much blood out of me. Time to wake up.
Wasted some time. Just like how Bonds Payable is wasting mine.
Pants on the Ground
If you are an avid follower of American Idol, you might have seen this crazy audition of a 62 year old hopeful. and his heaven sent song, "Pants on the Ground". If not, here it is:
I'm pretty sure that you at least chuckled because of the song's hilarity, and the song is pretty catchy too, to say the least. And yesterday, a certain Brent Morgan did his own rendition of that song, and it was badass.
Now that is some cool pants on the ground.

Dumb Dinosaurs
Well, the scientists may have been right when they said that dinosaurs have brains the size of a peanut, or something like that.
Time to Learn Blurring the Background 101 (NSFW)
Today's digital cameras have the ability to detect faces and focus on it, thus giving the photo a soft and blurred background. That feature could have been handy, but unfortunately for these photos, it didn't. Instead of a photo that's worth a thousand words, they became worth a million laughs. Remember, slightly NSFW.

Thoughts on the Feast of the Black Nazarene
As one of the most awaited feasts by millions of Filipino devotees concluded yesterday, so did two other lives of people expressing their faith in a very elaborate way.
It is just fitting that this feast happen just days after the New Year enters, with most of the devotees attending profess their faith and ask for guidance from the revered Nazarene. Many envision that with their one day sacrifice will be rewarded by a whole year of blessings, heavily depending on the supposedly miraculous image of Quaipo.
Sadly, two people accidentally lost their lives and served as their final sacrifice to their incredible devotion, as 400 more people got injured in the duration of the procession. Even the Manila Archbishop frowns upon this what he referred to as "excessive expression of devotion".

Health and Boobs (NSFW)
Tuesday is NSFW day, or Not Safe for Work, which roughly translates to "you'll-get-your-ass-spanked-by-your-mom/boss-if-you-get-caught-looking-at-this." Since it's my first post on this topic, I'll go and approach this a little lightly, going more intense on the upcoming posts.

Celebrity Badass : Johnny Depp
Now just to balance my posts. If there is celebrity hottie, then there should be a badass one, and here is Johnny Depp, probably my favorite Hollywood actor of all time. From his Jack Sparrow roles to his latest John Dillinger acts, he remained to be a badass figure. The only time he went a little soft is when he dressed up as silly Willy Wonka.
Now I may sound gay here but come on, he's at par with Brad Pitt and the other badass guys when it comes to looks, and he's charm often takes away breaths of young and old people alike. He also is a great actor at 46 years of age. And not only that, back up his acting skills and looks with his singing talent as he demonstrated in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street", he definitely is badass. Click here for his Wikipedia page.

Celebrity Hottie : Zooey Deschanel
If you haven't watch her latest movie "(500) Days of Summer", well shame on you. I featured her here because her latest movie was one of my favorites among all the movies last year with all its romance stuff. Though it's a chick flick, it's still a must watch.
Zooey Deschanel is 29 years old but unfortunately, she's already married, just like in her movie. I think the movie really gives justice to the "Summer effect", which I thin she really has. She's like pwede na and malakas ang dating chick. Check her Wikipedia page here.
She looks like Katy Perry though, without Katy's drowning racks. Damn. And hit this: she'll be on her birthday suit on her upcoming movie about Janis Joplin. Now we might wanna see that.

Freak of the Week -- Marvel = Disney

UPDATE: URL Change
My blog was just able to take two steps before undergoing a major change: the change of URL. I didn't find my old address appealing, so I changed it.
imbaweekly, from the overused DoTA term "imba", or imbalanced. And, my train of thought still exists, the flavor of the week. I hope it's better.

Random Thought : Manga
First post. I decided to blog just to burn some time whenever I surf the internet, and also to make my internet hobby, which is researching, more fun and worthwhile.
I'm not really a One Piece fan should you ask why I chose my blog theme. I just chose this because it could represent, you know, different flavors (see blog banner), which really is my main theme that will go on for the rest of my blog posts. Really, I'm a Hunter x Hunter fan, which if it concerns you, just came back from a long hiatus. Here's the latest chapter [One Manga]

I have been following a lot of manga for the past months, especially Naruto. And now Hunter x Hunter came back, another distraction is present. Sould I ask now, Am I, or you even, too old to read these manga which are supposed to be comics for children?
Me? Not really. Age really doesn't matter, as the cliche goes. These comics appeal to every age, and I think it at least gives some spice to classic prose. So, enjoy the flavour.

PS. My URL spelling of flavor is flavour, the British version I believe, for the reason that all URL names that I want weren't available. So I decided to change the spelling and still retain my train of thought.
